mustangdani55 , I don't think he's the driver. But I bet he's seen some pretty nasty wrecks

dani-
Sorry, I've been sick with the flu all week. I have never driven a Sprint car. My balls aren't big enough. The driver I am working for this year and last hasn't been involved in a serious crash yet. He's been hit a few times, but other than some bent radius rods or a tweaked nerf bar, he's come away unscathed. The driver I worked for two years ago is another story. He went through 3 hoods by June (for those who don't know, the only way to damage a hood in a Sprint car wreck, is to land on it, hard). That guy wrecked every week. Even by himself. He was truly an accident looking for a place to happen. That's why I left his team. Too much work for no reason. This last season, he ended the season early with a spectacular crash in October. He was on the back straightaway, not paying attention, and came up on a car that was slowing for a spin in turn 3. He proceeded to run right up over the other cars back tire, and went into the wall at an angle. When he contacted the wall, the car started spinning, in the air, in what could best be described as a "helicopter" spin. He passed out, but had the throttle wide open. As he started to come back down to the ground, the right rear tire, still spinning at 7500 rpm, grabbed the wall and sent him flying out the turn 3 exit ramp, sideways. He looked as though he was driving perfectly normally, except that he was on the wall instead of the track. You could see the car as if you were above it. The car then cartwheeled down the exit, and landed upside down, with the engine sill floored, and the wheels still engaged. It took 23 seconds before a track worker was able to get close enough to hit the kill switch, and shut the engine down. He was taken to the hospital, where he did nothing but complain about how the other car "cut him off". The track video tape would later show that it was entirely his fault, but he still denies it. He just turned 52, and has been encouraged by many to seriously consider retiring, but alas, he's signed up again for this season.

I admit, my Mac would freeze about once every two weeks when running OS 9.1. The PC's I used would freeze up more often than that, but it would depend on what I was doing. Since I installed OS X, around the first week in October, my Mac has only frozen once, and that was due to a mistake I made in Classic (Incase you weren't aware, Apple's new OS X actually runs two different operating systems simultaneously, so that any software that is not OS X {UNIX platform} compatible still has OS 9.2 {old Mac platform} to run on. 99% of the time, the two operating systems work together flawlessly, but I had a preference panel configured wrong in the Classic mode so that it was trying to override the OS X drivers when loading the driver for my second monitor. That was a stupid mistake on my part, and caused it to freeze once). Since then, I haven't had any trouble at all.

Take care,
-Chris

i was just busting your balls Chris. no need to explain:D i didnt think you were going to explain. i thought you were going to make a comeback joke! i had a funny feeling that you werent the driver. not big enough balls? dont worry, i watched a couple of races and seen guys get thrown around! i dont blame you! crazy i must say to drive one of those!

PKRWUD 02-15-2002 03:03 AM

I figured it was better to explain rather than just say that it never freezes anymore. That UNIX platform is pretty trick schit!

As far as the Sprints go, maybe someday, but I don't know. 750 horsepower in an open-wheeled car with no transmission, racing on dirt/mud, with 19 other cars, just sounds a little much for me. I watch them race every week, and some of the moves they pull look like they were choreographed by a Broadway pro. They miss each other by inches, sometimes less, at WOT. Crazy. Then again, I've got 8 hours worth of crash and burn tapes, and I've gotta say that they have had an effect, too!

Take care,
-Chris

pkrwud you still awake the twin 125's were a joke chevy & pontiac are crying about ford's advantage ,bwahahaha, yeah right who won both races , the second one there wasnt a ford in the top ten ,i hate blowtie's.cya:mad:

PKRWUD 02-15-2002 03:41 AM

Yeah, I've been in bed all week with the flu, and couldn't stand it anymore. I've slept more this past week than in the month before!

Yeah, I saw the 125's. NASCAR is looking very GM so far this year. I think Tony Stewart will be the one to watch. If it stays that way for a month, NASCAR will make some changes. They're pretty good about trying to keep things "fair". Wait until there are no plates, and see what happens.

Take care,
-Chris

Sorry you were sick. I guess you were all by your lonesome and didn't have anybody to make you feel all better?

Guys are such BABIES when they get ill...
I will admit I love for someone to be there to try to make me feel better, and get me stuff, and poor baby me
;)

PKRWUD 02-15-2002 12:02 PM

Actually, it's kinda funny. The only time I've gotten the flu in the past 10 years was when I went to Florida to visit my Mother for Christmas for like 2 or 3 years in a row. At first I thought I was catching it in the airport/plane, but after a while, I started to suspect something in my Moms house. I even thought it might be in my head, and was just me missing my Mom, but I was really sick each time, including fever/chills/cough/congested, etc. Anyway, this bug first started two weeks ago, but since we were having strong winds, I just figured it was my allergies. No big deal, but after a week, I was just too wiped out to do anything. It was then that I got "that taste" that smokers get when they are sick, a non-ending cough, and a 103 fever, and I knew it was more than allergies. I felt so helpless, it's rediculous. Really. I survive much tougher hardships on my own regularly, but this just felt worse without my Mom there. I know that sounds really bad, and I can't explain it, other than to say that your theory is pretty accurate.

Take care,
-Chris

mustangdani55 02-15-2002 12:07 PM

it is really true. It always makes you feel better when someone is there to take care of you when you are sick..especially MOM ;)
