2 Q's - Wheel spacers and Off road pipe
I wanted to put a 7/16" wheel spacers. Have you guys had any problems after putting them on?
Also, on 4.6 SOHC, off-road H-pipe? I've heard from people not to get rid of the back pressure because 4.6 needs it. Is this true? I am running without any mufflers. How loud is this? (I really don't care if it's loud)(But some road race tracks have noise regulations, that we all ignore) Thanks for your help as always. |
My older brother ran his 96 GT without mufflers with he had the stock H-pipe on it and it's wasn't that loud. With a off-road H-pipe you'll HAVE to have mufflers, or it'll be ungodly loud. Running around with straight pipes is very good way to get a lot of tickets very quickly. Yes you will lose some torque with a off-road H-pipe, but you will gain hp. With a off-road H-pipe and no mufflers you will lose a lot of low end. So just go get some mufflers.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, I did think that I would ahve to get some mufflers if I go off road. FYI.... I did a dyno with out the mufflers and the result was, absolutely no hp gain but gained around 10ft-lb of torque. Although, I don't think it was from removing mufflers at all. With 15% conversion my car was putting out 225 hp and 310 ft-lb of torque. |
You can generally use a 1/4" wheel spacer with no problems depending on the wheel you use. More than this and you should get longer studs - you should have at least 6 threads engaged when the lug nut is tightened.
