Valve Adjustment?
 

I have a hydraulic roller cam with pedestal mount rockers. Once I turn the crank so that lifter is on the base circle of the cam, I tighten the bolt to 17-23 ft/lbs? Is that all there is to it. Thats what I decyphered from a book I was reading. The book confused me by talking about useing a feeler gauge to check if the pushrods are the right length. I only have 50k miles and the pushrods don't have any visible wear, so I think I am ok with that. I just want to be sure. Is there anything else I should know about adjusting the valves? What is the best way to prime the lifters? How do I know if a lifter has gone bad?

ya that's pretty much all you do to set the valve. To prime a lifter, put it in a can of oil take the push rod and pump the lifter buy hand this should allow oil into the lifter and pump up the valve. I could be missing something here but. I believe that will get you were you need to be

That seems like it would work, but that doesn't seem very easy to do with a roller lifter. Any Ideas?

If you using an aftermarket cam, there is a little more to it than that. If you have a stock cam and heads, then you are fine.

The best way to fill the lifters (when they are in the motor) is to prime the oil pump. This can be accomplished a few different ways.
