Hi!

Can anyone tell me if when replacing a gas tank should i also replace the fuel line?

I would also like to know what a good carb and intake manifold combo would be?

I assume that you mean the fuel line, flexible, next to the tank. Heck yeah if you thing it is OLD, replace it.

Now if you're talking about the steel line that runs from the rear to the front. I wouldn't change it unless it looks like a real rust bucket. To darn hard to change.

You can get a fairly inexpensive intake and carb from any of the major suppliers. Summit has them.

I'd keep it to a 650 cfm AFB or Holley. I prefer the AFB. No delicate power valve to flame out.

All the manufactores make intakes. Depends on what you want it to do.....and how much you want to spend.

What else can I do to get more horsepower?

I did replace the gas tank and all lines when I re-did my '66. It had been sitting for 15 yrs., so I figured there must be a bunch of junk in the lines. I just made everything new from filler cap to carb.

OK, here goes.

Get the new gas tank, installation kit with new filler hose, clamps, etc. Get a new fuel guage sending unit also. Get some flexible fuel line, 2 ft. maybe, and clamps. Get a new hard line , tank to fuel pump. Get new hard line fuel pump to carb. You'll need some new clip retainers that hold the hard fuel line to the underside of the the drive shaft tunnel. It's really not so difficult after you see how it all goes together. You can get all this from your favorite Mustang parts supplier. The only tricky part is to make sure you get the sending unit with the O-ring seal installed right so that it doesn't leak when you fill up with gas. My advice is the put in a few gallons at home from a gas can and look to make sure there's no leak before filling up at the gas station. The reason I say this is because I made that mistake and it was a mess. Good luck with the installation.
