engine for a 1970 fastback
A friend and i are restoring his 1970 fastback. most of you know this already. it originally came with a 302. we are building a 428 for the car, probably with a top loader four speed behind it. my question is this. anyone know what changes have to be made to the car in order to make the 428 work? different suspension? different motor mounts(obviously)? are the strut towers different? I need as much info as possible. We are making a trip to connecticut this weekend, to mustangs unlimited, to pick up somethings we need, and if we find out here that we need more, we can get that too. i need as much help as anuone can give me. thanks.

nobody knows any of this? ok, does anyone know a shop i can call that could tell me?
|
I don't know the answers, but I will find out soon. I live near Sacramento in California, and I know of a shop that could help you out. I am currently putting a 429/505 stroker into a 1970 Mach 1, and they are helping me out a lot with not only parts, but advice and info as well. The name of the shop is Hamilton/Clark Motorsports, but I don't know if they have a website or anything. I am getting together all of the money I need for the motor next week, and as I go along, they will help me with the same knowledge that you need. I will tell you whatever I find out, but I will also leave the phone number in case you want to call.
(916)643-2010, and ask for Robert or Cole. Cole is the one who knows the most about big blocks - he had the fastest street rod in California for about three years, I think. Hope I helped a little. |
you helped alot. at least now i know a place to start.

Check www.critesrestoration.com and www.mpgheads.com
Crites has been in this game a long time and probably has everything you need for the install. Ron |

If I remember right, a catalog from national parts depot listed a lot of info like spring rates, radiator size, etc. for the different option packages. You might pick one of those up to help out.

Yeah, i have an NPD catalog on the way. thanks again everyone.
