hydro roller lifter for 6k+rpms?
 

has any compnay came out with his yet??i know comp cams(or crane) was in the devolopement stages b4..just would be nice to have a cam that i know is stable and wont calapse after 6200..how high do you guys rev your hydro roller and are you loosing some power from it over 6k?

We've got to run stock Ford/OEM lifters in S/W, and the guys in Renegade do as well. I routinely shift around 6000 and cross the traps at 6500. The S/R guys are revving up to 7000 and beyond and so are the S/W guys with carbs. The lifter will handle the higher revs, but you've got to pay more attention to the weight of your valve train components and to your valve springs.

hey thats great news..7k is plenty..now what exactly do you mean by valve springs and weight of valvtrain?..i have the springs for my cam (.565 lift) being put on to my AFR 185's and i was planning on using DSS stud mounted RR?should i use another company?what other things do i need to lighten up?

You want to lighten up the valve train wherever you can to relieve the load on the lifters at the high rpms. Things like titanium retainers & locks, thinner walled pushrods, etc. The selection of springs is important to prevent valve float. What are the seat & open loads on your springs? You want to balance the spring loads with enough force to keep the valve train in place, without excessive load that robs horsepower and causes premature wear. Your cam company should be able to recommend the correct spring for your combination and intended rpm range.

You won't need it, but there is also a "rev kit" available. We are trying it this year in our Sprint car. It includes a plate that goes underneath each head, and springs that go between the lifters and the plates. Pretty trick.

Check Comp Cams, their magnum roller hydraulic lifters are supposed to offer increased revs?

PK is that a rev kit for hydraulic rollers and a 302 deck height?

AFR was a what time working on a hydra-rev kit for roller 302's but nothing ever seems to have come of it?

The hydra-rev kit and magnum lifters would have been a nice combo!

It's for our Sprint car, which has a 355 Chevy. It's made by Isky. I'd show you a picture, but then I'd have to kill ya.

Well, I was running a Lunati 51018 cam and Crane lifters( supposedly high rev ) and we had some valve float, started at 6300-6500 rpm, also tried the lifters matched with the cam, basically all parts were matched and still, dyno showed HP drop offs. The work was being done by people who know their stuff also,( Lugos Racing ) 97 or 98, forgot which, NMRA champ.

Basically we went with a comp cams 31-762-9 and matched lifters(solid rollers)and valve components

You're tempting me...

AFR makes a kit for the SBC. It is called "hydrarev" and it mounts in the lifter valley with springs over the lifters. They may make it for fords now.

your yanking my chain!!!!!!!! I just got AFR's 2002 catalog, I'll check again. My Vic 5.0 intake would really appreciate it if AFR does indeed have the hydra-rev kit!

Oops... typo. I ment to say I hope they make it for fords now. I saw the one for chevy in a older catalog before the 205's were relesed.
