air bag warning light

Hi all,

Just bought a 93 GT. For some reason the airbag warning light flashes on the odd time. Does this every time I drive the car. My airbag isn't going to blow up in my face one day is it?

My stang did the same thing when I got it a year ago. It also beeped randomly. I was told that the air bag had to be reset or re calibrated. What ever that means. The beeping was what drove me crazy so I unpluged the airbad module (blue box behind the stereo) It stopped beeping and the light went off. I was also scared that it might go off in my face that's why I unplugged it. If you can take it in to have it checked its much better. I have not done so but plan to.

The procedure for resetting the Air Bag light is as follows:

1) Locate the connector below the glovebox, with a Black wire and a Tan wire with a Red tracer.
2) Turn the ignition on, and watch for a Code 52 to be flashed out.
3) After it has flashed out once, connect the two wires in the connector with a jumper (a paperclip works well) for 5 seconds.
4) The Air Bag Controller will then beep 5 times.
5) The code is now cleared out of the system.

This code will appear anytime the Air Bag fuse is blown or removed, or if the battery voltage falls below 8vdc.

Take care,
-Chris

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. No chance of the airbag blowing in my face is there?

It's pretty unlikely, but if you own a hockey mask, you might want to wear it. ;)

Take care,
