Drive shaft
In the fall i pulled my engine and built a new one over the winter. But when i was removing it i never though to check the position of the drive shaft. is there any specific way its supposed to go back in. Ive had the drive shft off before and never thought twice about it and it worked fine with no vibration. If it does need to go on a specific way, how do i get it right. Thanks for any help you can give.

it can go in anyway, but sometimes you'll get a vibration. If so just rotate it 90 degree's till its gone. Or you could buy an aluminum one and not worry about any vibration at all

Into the tranny it doesnt really matter.
If you can find the old "mark" (ghost rust pattern) on the pinion, then try to install it that way. p.s. Be careful with driveshaft bolts and the threadlock!!! You gotta have a lot and make sure they are in good condition. At $1/bolt new, get some new ones, or at least keep an eye on them after you put them in! |
Ya, thats one thing ive seemed to have noticed. They aways seem to loosen up after a while so this time im gonna hit them with some locktite first. Also planning on a driveshaft loop in the near future.
