Death in the air?

I dont know about anyone else but since the Sept. 11th, has anyone noticed the amount of people passing away? Like family, friends, friends family, well known people and so on. is it just me? It doesn't even have to be people, it can be pets too! My friends grandparents came down with cancer. one of the past away Monday. so what is going on? am I the only one noticing this? Is it just me it is happening to? Even people on this board are very ill, Silverwing, Odie and others that I can't think of right now.

This is weird....

No. You're just noticing it more because there is so much tragedy all at once, and you don't have any breathing room for recovery. I doubt there is an actual numeric increase in illness/fatalities.

Yes.

Perception is reality and if you perceive that a lot more deaths are occurring this becomes your reality and every 'new' death seems to confirm it. That doesn't mean the perception is correct, just that your awareness of death has heightened, probably due to 9/11, and so it now 'seems' as if more people are dying than usual, although the death rate has not actually changed.

The human mind is a wonderous thing.

I think that with the events of 9/11 people have come together and become closer. We call our relatives more and take less things for granted. Because of this you notice these things more than before.

But in some respects there is a darker feeling in the air. But I think that the coming together of everyone around the world after those events have helped to disperse that dark terrorist feeling.

No, You just pay more attention to things/deaths. They happen all the time and you just never realized. Death is a part of life. :(

Besides 2 close friends of mine getting sick, there haven't been any deaths of those close to me. There definitely does seem to be a much more somber mood about the country since 9/11 though. I don't think one can argue with that. Hopefully, srv1 , things will look up for you.

maybe thats what it may be. i never looked at it that way. i dont know. a couple of friends of mine feel the same way. maybe it is just NY.

THIS IS REDICULOUS!!! As I was writing my initial reply, saying that I haven't had any death in my circle of friends, family, I'm thinking this is gonna be one of those "knock on wood" type things. Well, I go to work, I come home and I'm at my friends house. As were sitting there, the phone rings. It turns out a friend of ours just got in a motorcycle accident and died. :( Weird coincidence? Stuff like that just plain SUCKS!

Yes, I close friend of mine just up and died with a heartattack, at 34. But no, as stated before, u are just noticing more then before. It'slike when u buy a new, or used car. U start to notice how many of the same type are running around.

Unbelievable. I got a phone call late last night telling me one of the kids I grew up with died last weekend of a drug overdose...

All the children of my parent's friends ended up doing pretty well (me included mwahaha :D) but apparently not all of us were doing as good as I thought...

I just burst out crying when my mom was referring to him as a body being shipped to NC for the funereal instead of the kiddo who was my first kiss...yep, the innocent, postcard type of smooch...hard to believe he is dead at 22.

I know things change and people die...but ...geez.

then again, maybe not......
