muffler question

I noticed the other day that one of my mufflers had a hole in the bottom so now since I will need it fixed for inspection this month I was wondering what a good set of mufflers to get that won't make me be heard 10 miles away. I don't have the cash right now to get a complete aftermarket system which is what I would LIKE to do.
What are some good but mellow sounding turbo mufflers that aren't about $75 a piece?
I try to save all the big bucks for my '82GT in my garage.

I'm not sure, but couldn't you just go to the local Meineke and get stock mufflers for an '82 GT without getting some special aftermarket brand like flows or macs?

Quiet mufflers

DynoMax Super Turbo's are about $50. each (cheaper than most 'stock replacements') and sound great. A mellow rumble at idle and not ear-splitting at WOT; just a nice, quiet roar.

I have them and I recommend them if you want a 'quiet' but effective performance muffler at a reasonable price.

Id go with some dynomax superturbos. Thats what i have on my 82GT and i love them. Fairly quiet at low RPM but wow, when you open it up they sound good. Just for something extra, my dynomax's came with a lifetime warranty as long as you get them installed.

Muffs

I would have to agree with Mr. 5.0. on the Dynomax. They are quiet and have a great tone a wide open throttle. I run Dynomax Ultraflos on my car. On my high horsepower car they are pretty quiet. Get the Super Turbos like Mr. 5.0 said. Over and out The Force :)

To clear up any confusion, it's my '88 that needs the mufflers. My '82(my baby) already has 2.5 flowmaster exhaust along with a bunch of other goodies.
Anyhow, does anyone know for sure what measurement I need to look for. I know it has factory 2 1/4 pipes but what size ID and OD are the mufflers.
In other words, what's the pipe diameter of the mufflers I need so that they will just slip on to the rest of the exhaust. That I.D and O.D can get confusing. I don't want to end up messing with adaptors because I got the wrong diameter mufflers.
