Quiet Mufflers
 

I live near very picky, b itchy, old fart neihbors that complain when a mouse farts a hundred yards away, so rather than rebel, I am going to try and comply a little.

My question is, what is the best flowing, non-stock mufflers, that you think would be considered quiet, I realize this is a stretch, but, tell me what you think.

Are they paying for your new mufflers?

I once saw a chart that said that the decibal level that Borla mufflers went up to was barely over stock. They sound awsome but in actuality are only slightly louder than stock.

I recommend DynoMax Super Turbo's. Just a little louder than stock mufflers. They have a quiet rumble at idle and get noticably loud at WOT, although not ear-splitting. Probably about the best you'll find for 'quiet' performance mufflers.

I've had them on my '90 LX for quite awhile and I like them; they sound powerful without being ridiculously loud. I live in a condo complex and no one has ever complained.

I have to agree with Mr 5.0. I presently have dynomax super turbos on my car and i love them. They are fairly quite and dont really resonate at idle but when you really hit it they let you know that they are performance mufflers. I live them and i highly reccomend them to anyone wanting a nice sound without going deaf yourself.

Chalk up another for the Dynomax Super Turbos. Best bang for the buck. Quiet. And sound fantastic at WOT. :)

Yep, I had those too. Nice and relatively quiet when driven "sensibly"?

With an offroad H-pipe and 2 1/2" tubing i had Flowtech Stinger Cat-back and i thought that they're actually TOO QUIET on my '84. Much quieter than flowmaster 3 chambers and i'd actually say probably quieter than most of the dynomax stuff i've heard. You can tell there's alot of baffling because the Stinger mufflers weigh A TON.
I'm putting them on my GT soon and with the offroad H pipe my exhaust will probably be quieter (i have fairly small holes in my left muffler but it's only slightly louder than stock). I don't have any Becibal readings or anything like that, but my personal experience is that the flowtech stuff is pretty darn quiet. The dynomax stuff is probably plenty quiet and probably lighter and better protected against rust, so i'd go with that. The dynomax super turbos really aren't loud at all.

Thank you all for the excellent advice, never even heard of those Steeda "Sleepers" and I love the idea of stainless.

The super turbo's are a great muffler, relatively quiet, and offer excellent performance, I think they test out to flow a tad bit more than loud baffled flowmasters, I've talked more with the neihbors and went with 3 chamber flowmasters, It's so hard to "leave" Flowmaster once youv'e had them, and I suspect that all of you Dynomax guy's feel the same.

I vote for Super Turbos, because My son had them on his Stang, and he actually still has them in the basement. At idle they were slightly louder than stock, and not much louder during normal driving.
