Chrome Plating
I am looking for a place that does quality chrome plating. There are a few things that I would like to get chrome plated to clean up my engine compartment a little bit. Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with certain companies?

HAHAHA! SRV: you know me all too well!!!! BTW: I LOVE YOUR NEW AVATER!!! LMFAO!!!! :D
Hey StangCrazy! Ya, i got some names for you. I just dont know where they are!!!! ugggh! The people who did all my original chroming and polishing are EXCELLENT as is the new people I am now using. They are both in the Houston area. The first ones are about a 50 minute drive, and we(Our Show Team Clique) have been using some people here closer to us by Hobby Airport(bout a 20 min. drive). They both do EXCELLENT work. And very reasonable. We are VERY ANAL about our chrome, and expect the best 'show' quality. I'm not sure where you are located, but if you have to 'send out' you could go either way. I wuld go w/ the one w/ the best price! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH OF THEM. Unfortunately, I have to dig thru all the crap and boxes in my PC room to find thier business cards, since I have moved into my house I cant find anything....I will look for them and I promise I will get you the names and numbers by the weekend as I unpack my stuff..my pc/trophy room is one of the last to get done! Here's a couple of pics.....Good luck and if you have any questions, Ill be more than happy to help you..Good luck! Topless  |
Here's another shot

Hey..sorry about the big download, but Bob took the pic and he saved it in Paint. I dont know how to resize it! anyways...It did finally open for me. Hope it does for you. Heres another one..and heres what i've had chromed or polished..
Upper Intake Wheels Strutbrace alternator I have since this picture had the pulleys and the hood prop done....just have not got a pic yet! (I know I have forgotten SOMETHING!) the cold air induction, i purchased allready chromed The Throttle body and all the fuel lines and all the other lines I polished myself..You'd be surprised what is shining under that ugly paint they put on that stuff!!!!! Alot of the snap on parts to cover the master cylinder, fuse box, radiator cap, etc.etc. I got from either Steeda or Mustangs Unlimited....They are WAY TO easy to put on. I use an adhesive called GEMTAK. you get it from a craft store and it keeps them on. The Strut Brace covers fit on but move, but there is no room for them to fall off. I have found someone also to chrome PLASTIC. Alot of people dont do it and if they do it is HIGH $$$! I eventually would like to the piece on the back of my firewall. I will get you the names in the next few days...and like I said, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND either of them! :) TNT |

:)
Hey Marty!
I can ask the guys if they can find out for you....as far as myself, when I polished my own stuff i used a polishing compound that came in a bar. It was a block of brown stuff. I dont know the name of it. Maybe someone out there knows what it is? But I used the aircompressor w/ the polishing wheels and did all the lines and throttle body and the fuel things on the sides. It worked out great!!!! I would never do it by hand...toomuch frigin' work! If you have access to an aircompressor and the polishing tool w/ the attachments, thats the way to go! WhiteSnake polished alot of his own stuff and used Mothers. He swears by that! I myself have found myself leaning towards Wenol. It comes in a tube. There is 2 different ones. I use the blue tube. I also like Extreem for quick and easy for something allready polished or chromed, cuz it has the cotton applicator. But I was real happy w/ the brown compound that came in a bar for something that has not been polished before. And a word of advice, if it is easy to take off and do it like the throttle body(especially THAT cuz it is HARD to get to alot of little areas of it!), I suggest it. Or your gonna fling sh** all over your engine bay. When I did the lines I had crap all over my engine, and all over my hood blanket...It was a MESS! |
ok thank's TNT,appreciate the info it may be awhile anyway, thank' again.:)

NO PROBLEM!!!
Hey Marty!
NO Prob! Im gonna try to get those Flows in the mail the next 2 weeks or so for you! Tell Odie hi for me! Hope shes' feeling well! :) Topless |
Thank you Topless!!
Thank you for the info. I was thinking about getting my pulleys and alternator done. When I get my new intake, I'll get that polished too. Are there any little things that can be polished with a dremel??
The only downside is that I'm wayyy up here in Pennsylvania so I'll have to send my parts to them. Oh well, gotta do what it takes. I know the results will be worth it and I'll be sure to post some pictures this summer when everything is done. Oh yea, we just moved back in December so I know what you're going through. You never know how much "stuff" you have until you move and have to unpack it and find space for it all :D ! |
