Is there anything I should be looking at doing at 150,000
I just bought the car in last sept and really have not been around to do any real changes. I have mostly just cleaned it up and started a list of all I will do to it.
Now, I am pleased with what I got for so little even with a few small surprizes. But, I am wondering if there is anything I should look at doing before I start building onto a stock 302 with 146+ miles. Any input? |
Praying that your valvetrain isn't about to self-destruct at any time.
But seriously, you should consider a rebuild pretty soon - if it doesn't already feel tired, it probably will soon. |
You might want to consider selling it or rebuilding the motor. It probably won't take a lot of ppunding. I had that same problem with a 87 5.0 w/ chrome Cobra R's. The car was real clean and it sounded good but the motor was tired and smoking badly up steep inclines. I sold it for 5K and saved up. It's better off to start fresh.

I realize that with that many miles the car has lost some horses. Now I don't know if I should get or do a rebuild, or just start over. I want to upgrade the heads, intake, pistons, cam, ect.... anyway. So why not just get a rebuildt or new, block and start from there? Wouldn't that be cheaper in the long run?
Does anyone still sell new blocks? |
