FMS lowering springs
 

Do any of you guys have the FMS "sport springs"?
Are they any good. For 135.00 bucks they seem like a
good deal & I think I could still get my D.R.'s on. I
belive the Eibachs would lower it too much to fit
the big tires?FMS only supposed to lower rear
1/2 in. But theres got to be somthing in that extra
100 bucks for the Eibachs cause i know you get
what you pay for!!

i have a set and i like them ,lower it just enough and still give it a nice firm ride.

I wouldn't necessarily go with the "drop" that they list.
My C springs dropped the front as much as 1.5". The rear didn't hardly drop at all. Probably because the lighter rear weight of the LX compared to the GT that they were most likely designed for.
The instructions will tell you that after a couple hundred miles you can cut the coils to achieve desired height. I cut about 1.5 coils off the rear springs to get the back end down.

Ride is much stiffer than stock, made even harsher by the poly bushings, but she corners very flat. Ain't a soft ride no mo'!!

I believe the difference in the FMS springs and the Eibach springs is that the Eibach springs are variable rate springs, while the FMS springs are fixed rate.

The variable rate springs are better and that's why you pay more for them. Although I've really heard anyone say bad things about there FMS springs.

Are the FMS springs very harsh? I've still
got stock '88 spring and my ride is very
harsh, I figure any spring,being new, would almost
improve it!! How much better ride do the progressive
springs give?

Progressive rate springs start off with a less stiff spring rate (better ride), but as you continue to compress the spring, the spring stiffness incressess (good handling). The fixed rate spring will only be able to do one thing, good ride or good handling.

The cars that I have been in with progressive rate springs had a really nice ride compared to the cars with FMS springs. The only problem with my experince is that all the cars that had FMS springs were Fox's and the progessive rate springs were SN95's. The 2 bodies handle differently that my experience is a little skewd.

Don't for get your shocks and struts either, they make a difference in ride quality too.

I got the FMS "c" springs, and have almost regretted it ever since. Granted the car handles great, but it's a very rough ride on the street. I have never been in another lowered vehicle, so I have no basis to compare the two, but if I had the chance to do everything again I'd have went with Eibach.
