Surging Idle After MAF Install...HELP
I got my C&L MAF yesterday and got it in today. When everything was done and secure, I put the battery back in and fired her up. It was idling nice for a couple of seconds...right around 700 rpm, but then it would drop and almost stall. The rpm's didn't drop below 500 but the battery gauge was going wacky. At normal idle, it's one mark above halfway but when the car would drop rpm's, the volts would drop to a couple marks below halfway.
The idle was fine before the MAF and my new alternator was doing it's job wonderfully. Now the idle goes from 700 rpm then drops to 500 and almost stalls, then back up to 700, then back down. It's hard to describe...it sounds like I have a cam. What could the problem be?? I never bumped my timing so I don't know what it's at. Other than that, I have no idea why the idle is surging. Any help is appreciated cause I'm stuck. |
Calibrated?
Sounds like you have a MAF that is calibrated for the wrong sized injectors? Are yours stock? It should say on the side of the box what the sampling tube of the MAF is calibrated for with regards to the size of injectors. My 73mm C+L is calibrated for my 24 # injectors for instance.

calibrated for 19lb
The MAF is calibrated for my stock 19lb injectors. The box stated that it was calibrated for 19lb and the MAF itself has a gold mark on it signifying that it was meant for 19lb injectors. Could it be anything else?

bad part?
it could be possible that you got a bad maf. try putting your original maf back in your car and see if the problem continues. also did you do any other mod's at the same time?

nothing else installed
I didn't install anything else. Just the MAF. I put the pulleys and alternator on a few weeks ago and the car ran and idled fine. I'll try putting the old MAF back on to see if the problem is still there.

you said that you have taken your battery off and then reconnected it. and the voltmeter was going crazy. could it be the connections on your battery to the cables arent good when you put it back on?
