Best age Marker??

With the couple of birthdays kicking around I thought that I would post this question:

Which major age marker do you think is the best or was the best, or was the most significant?

95mustanggt 03-11-2002 04:28 PM

I have to admit, turning 16 was the biggest for me. I could not wait to drive! :)

Mr 5 0 03-11-2002 04:57 PM

Sweeeeet 16!

The world changes when you can finally drive a car. 16 is golden in many ways but driving is the most important factor of all, as it allows you to do stuff you only dreamed about while riding a bike.

Drinking legally is O.K. but not everyone wants to get drunk and most drink illegally anyway.

55 is O.K. but you're looking backward, not forward and who wants to do that all the time?

Oh yeah, 16 is the best.

16! Nothing like being able to drive. seemed like from 15 to 16 took FOREVER to finally arrive but when it did was greatest feeling. The ones who had there b-day in late part of year would always get picked on by those of us with early
b-day! :D :D

I voted for teh drinknig age but then realized it was getting my license. When i got my mustang i was the happiest kid in teh world. Of course now i would liek to get another one but my car is an evil ***** and won't let that happen.:D

MustangKelly96 03-11-2002 11:15 PM

21 for me:D
At 16 I didn't have car, job or insurance so no way to drive. My mom let me drive her car once while I had my drivers permit and she swore never to let me drive it again! LOL

I wasn't that bad of a driver, really:D

Well I'm 17 turning 18. So basicly I'm in the middle of the 16 and 18,19 for Canadian bracket. I know 16 was the best. Every year from when I was like 10-11 I would be like I can drivein 5, 4, 3 years and so on. Tell I turned 16. That day I skipped a class and studdied during lunch and after school went for my licence. I was so happy, all the waiting I did was worth it. And then once I got my stang it was 10x the feeling! But I havn't even got to drive it, I just listen to her idle all day long. :D

Man I cant really vote on this one. I've been drivin since I was 13. Farm trucks and stuff like that. Then I spent my 19th birthday in Canada, I was in Sault St. Marieat the time. Fun times man, Fun times.

I voted for 16, but it's really hard to say. I was driving before I was 16, although I didn't get my license until sometime after I was 17. I was drinking long before I was 21, and that birthday didn't really mean much. Turning 18 was probably the most serious, but I didn't realize it at the time. I was such a bad teenager that I was fully convinced that I was invincable long before turning 18. It wasn't until after I turned 18 that I came to the conclusion that one of the reasons I felt invincable was the fact that the LAPD didn't want to waste their time on kids that would just have their wrists slapped. Once I turned 18, it felt like the LAPD was watching my every move. I got into alot of trouble, and at 18, I had to be responsible for it. That took some getting used to.

25, 30 and 35 were all biggies to me too, as I suspect 40 will be, but I suppose turning 16 was the coolest. Back then I thought 19 was old, and 17 was too cool. Now I think of pre-30 as kids, sort of. I've got to admit, though, I know quite a few pre-30 year olds (mostly here) that are much more together than many of my 40+ year old friends.

Go figure.

Take care,
-Chris

i couldn't chose the 55 one, no where near it yet. i felt no different when i was 21, drank before then. 16 is most memorible, first car, first race (my toyota p'up vs. a buick riviera)
and first time i rode in a mustang. been hooked ever since.

"21 (18 or 19 for us Canadians): Now you are legal and can drink!"

I thought 21 was more exciting because i knew my parents were going to restrict my driving very heavily when i turned 16. I ended up wrecking anyways. I couldn't wait till 21 (this last november 6 i turned 21), so now i can go ANYWHERE I WANT. ANYBAR I WANT i can go in and drink. I can go buy alcohol for parties (especially important if the party is lame) and when i've had a long week I can go kick back a few beers with some guys at work. 21 was by far way better and i anticipated it more. At 19 i could go to canada, but i wasn't too fond of the bars.....too many other 19 year olds from America up in Vancouver, BC. If you get in trouble as an american up there the punishment can be worse than getting a MIP in the US. I had a friend get arrested up there. Just my experience.

PKRWUD 03-15-2002 02:02 AM

FWIW, the first time I was carded for booze, either at a store or a bar, I was close to 30. That's part of the reason 21 didn't do much for me.

Take care,
-Chris

Well I voted before I read the posts, duhhhh, so of course I went 55 what the heck I was thinking of retirement, sounds good to me, but really 16 was fun, and I can still remember, now I just let crazy court me around. Ha he has to be the designated driver now. I just love it. sorry babe... but I carted your butt around for a long time, now its my turn hahahhaha....... now I can drink........Odie:D.......I can't wait for an answer to this one.

My best years arent a choice here! :)

Well, if I'd have to pick my best year over all it would be when i turned 36ish....(last year) the last 2 years have been so great for me and I've been the happiest I've been in a long, long time!!!!! :) But, that was not a choice of age to pick.....soooo....
Heres where things get complicated....I was clubbing at 16(and drinking), moved out of the house when i was 18., didnt get my drivers license till I was 19 and allready working at my present job for one year!...I was all bassackwards...so I couldn't really say?!!!!!!
But as far as everything else...Now are my best years!!!!!!! All the way around!!!!!!!!!:D I wouldn't wanna go back and do it over again!!!!!!

I had to say 16, and by a landslide. There is no better feeling than being able to finally drive on your own. I was one of the first birthdays in my group of friends and my grandma had given me her 1990 Escort Lx for my 16th birthday. Not a fast car by any stretch of the imagination, but wheels when you turn 16 is something I am still very grateful for. Then senior year, I sold the Escort for $2800 and bought my first Mustang with that and some other money I had saved up. Another great feeling which I'll never forget. If grandma hadn't given me the Escort, I would've had to settle for a beater Stang until I could finally afford a decent one, which at my current money saving rate would not be until I graduated from college.

And I too was drinking long before 21, however, it did feel mighty good being able to walk into the store and buy alcohol, consume as much of it as I wanted and not have to worry about the law giving me MIP's.
