stupid friend

hello every one.

one of my friends just went out and bought A 66 200 ci inline 6cyl like mine but he bought it to go fast now I know you can make 6 cyl go fast but I don't see the point in buying one to make it fast. any ways thats off the subject. he says that just by getting it rebuilt and bumping the compression ratio from 9.2:1 up to 10.5:1 he could get another 40 hp out of it is this true. I think it is alitle to much hp to get out of just A rebuild and compresion change but then again I don't know much about compresion. and if it is true then I will probly do it too if I would be able to run on street gas like 92 or 93 octane witch ever it is.

and sorry for so many questions in one post but how do you change the compresion(sorry if that is A stupid question) like I said I don't know much about compression

thanks for all the help

compression can be changed a few ways. different pistons, shave the heads, or change to a head with a smaller combustion chamber. There are other ways too, but those are the most popular.

as far as a compression change adding 40 HP, i don't think it's that much.

I agree with you fordkid. That's way too much to expect from a minimal amount of compression increase and nothing else other than an ordinary rebuild.

For difinitive expert opinion on 6 bangers, ask Clifford High Performance what is needed. Believe me, they do know.

i had a straight 6cyl in my jeep and clifford worked with me long distance . had one heck of a fast jeep after all the parts i installed...aluminum intake, hot cam, holley 500, 4 barrell, headers. twin flowmasters. it sounded real cool and had gobs of power. so i'm sure they can help out with the 6cyl ford engines.
good luck

Their online catalog is only available as downloaded pdf files. Find the pages you want, and click on the icon. The pdf file will download to your computer, and you can then view it there.

Take care,

V8 Is right at 10 hp per point. More prone to detonation.
