Will a 26x10.5 m/t fit a 15x7 rim?
 

I heard they will just balloon out, but not sure, I need to just do this temporarily until i have enough saved for 15x8 welds, i have to give my friends back to him, and im hooked on them, so im gonna buy the tire's first.

Thats too much difference in width, not safe either. The rule of thumb is the tire should be + or - 1" of the wheel width.

They'll work fine.

My Jeep has 12.50's on a 15x7. And I take that to the dunes, through the mud, everything.

dont do it 26 x 9 have a hard time staying sealed on the 15x 7 rims.

It has to do with the aspect ratio , with the jeep above he's not running 60 series tires.

i paid like $80.00 for two steel 15x 9's i wanted 15 x 10 but couldnt find the right offset.

youll be fine, there are thousands of people running wide slicks on the 15x7 "phone dial" LX rims with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Ask yourself this. Would you put a 265/50R 15 on the stock wheels?

That's basically what you are trying to do. I wouldn't try it. I think most people running the 10.5" on the stock 10 holes and turbines are 28". If they are running 26" slicks, they are 9" wide.

I agree with the statement that it has to do with the aspect ratio. 33x12.50 15 tires are like a 315/75R15. The idea is that you have 9" of sidewall to absorb the 2.25" additional width on each side of the rim. Instead of 5.5" to absorb 1.75".

I haven't run them, so I can't say for sure. I can say for sure that I wouldn't try it with my money though, hehe.

you guys are right about the sidewall on my Jeep tires, but people have been running 10.5" slicks on 10 holes and Turbines for years.
I had some 10.5" Hoosier slicks on 10 holes that I gave to a friend. He has been using them on his 11 second car for a couple of years now. The contact patch may not be optimal compared to an 8 inch wheel, but when you are trying to save pennies it gets the job done.

Exactly what I was trying to say..it gets the job done, and it has been done thousands of times with out problems. How any one could say it wouldnt work, when the proof is at the track......... They must be thinking street tires, where that combination wouldnt be very good, but on a drag slick, that just has to go straight for 1/4 mile, it isnt a problem.

Were they 26x10.5, or were they 28x10.5?

28 X 10.5 WORK BECAUSE OF THE LOWERED RADIUS ANGLE A 26 X 10.5 actually push against the outside rim lip. some 26 x 9 also do this depending on brand the other option for getting a proper seal is radiusing the lip(cutting it down) or screwing the tires on .

as far as things working at the track a friend of mine runs 15 x 15 x 32 slicks on his 10 holes out back and 165 sr 15 on his 10 holes on the front . but because he's a machinist and has cut all four rims and modified the width it works fine.

and most of the 10.5 I've seen are 28's so the side wall deflection is a lot less like 15 degrees.

ps on my ten holes one 26 x9 American racing slicks worked great the other would only mount white wall out to get a good seal .
we mounted it white wall in and the side wall would colllapes we found a slight offset in the construction of the tire that caused this.

Bill its only a mistake if you do it twice.

I have a set of 26x10.50 slicks mounted on a set of ten holes as well.
They look kinda funny balooning out like they do, but they haven't given me any problems at all.

thnx for the help, im trying these m/t 26x10.5's on 15x7 AR's, i seen a guy at the track with some on 10 holes, they did baloon out a lil, but he was hooking.

But just temporary until i save enough for welds, im also getting skinnies, then 373 gears, my plans for these coming months anyway.
