mass air tb
I have an 89 LX hatchback with a performer 5.0 intake, 3/8" spacer, 180 thermostat, bbk cold air, K&N, bbk unequal length shorty headers, bbk h-pipe with cats, and a dynomax super turbo catback. I also have 3.55 gears. I recently bought a 76mm C&L mass air, and a 70mm bbk throttle body, and i was wondering what kind of improvment this is going to have on my HP, and also what you think my quarter mile time will be with these mods and street tires.

Too much TB
The 70mm TB is too big for your combo as it stands now. It will hurt your performance more than it will help. No HP gain. A 65mm TB should be the maximum.
I would guess your possible et to be high 13's or very low 14's with this combo - minus the 70mm TB. |
You wont gain a whole lot, I'd guess somewhere about 8-10hp.
You didnt say if your car was an AOD or T-5, so if its an AOD it will probably run mid 14's on street tires and low 14's with a T-5 (maybe a little quicker if you can really drive, but not much) |
its a T-5, my freind has a 93 with pretty much the same mods running 13.7 consistantly with street tires
