The Chevy Bel-Air Returns!
I was visiting Chevy's website to see if anything was new and I found this part of the website:
Bel-Air It still under concept. Its not bad looking though Dodge has quite a few concept vehicles too... |
Bel Air redux
Well, as you might have guessed, we're usually not all that interested in Chevy's around here but I checked it out and it looks interesting; possibly a replacement for the Camaro without calling it that. The turbocharged 315 HP 5-cylinder sounds potent, in a weird, european way.
The Chevy Bel Air name goes back to around 1952 when they were still cranking out wheezy six cylinder grocery-getters at Chevrolet. It's pathetic how these companies drag out these ancient but sometimes still-respected marques and slap them on cars that have zero relationship to the original or (usually) are just another Totota/Honda imitation with an American nameplate, like the Impala. One important thing to remember: this is a concept car and usually they either don't make it to production (common) or they have a ton of changes by the time they get into production to accomodate the EPA, safety concerns and warranty considerations for the manufacturer. We'll see, meanwhile I'm more interested in the 2003 Cobra. |
hmm... not to sure if I really like it. I'm not a real big fan of the dash and such. Maybe it'll grow on me, who knows?
|
I'm not into chevy either but I do like to know what they plan on doing in the near future, funny how they follow in Ford's footsteps (via the Thunderbird).
Also sometimes the concept vehicle loses alot of the horse power and such they claimed it would have when produced. |
T-Bird?
kind of a rip off of the new Thunderbird, huh? hmmmm......

Where's the fins?:D
My great grandpa had a '52 Chevrolet Deluxe 4-door. He passed it down to my grandpa, my grandpa passed it down to my dad. Then my dad sold it because we wanted the MUSTANG! The '52 was HUGE! I had to wet sand that thing before he sprayed it with primer. That took forever. It had a 216 I6 and a three speed tranny, shifter on the steering column, "three on the tree." Ahhh......memories.......:) |

i saw this about a month ago ,i think it's a t- bird ripoff, have you seen the ugly 53 chevy truck looking clone they are making -uugghh GMC=ghey man's car hehe:rolleyes: :D

Hey all I'm new to the boards, you may love it or hate it, but 315 horsepower at the push of a button sounds interesting to me!
|
That has to be the most Mundane looking Retro Style vehicle I have ever seen. Nothing to do with it being a GM, but the lines are to soft. It looks like a Bar of soap (Irish Spring, its got that shape) that has been in the shower for a while.
It shares little in styling with the 57 Chevy they show, the only obvious thing is the slope of the new car kinda matches the Belt line of the Shoe Box Chevy, and the Dash resembles it also. As for the button for Aggressive Spark and fuel mixture for when you want power.....Havent they heard of just being easy on the gas?? Its called modulating your foot. Sounds like a Gimmic to me. As for the 315 HP Straigh 5, if the vehicle makes production, it will probably be detuned down to 250-275 HP range. Speaking of such, has anyone heard anything else about that Pickem Up truck thingy that GM was working on? I heard its supposed to be put into production soon, but that was the last I heard of it. |
Its every bit as ugly as the hideous new thunderbird...but at least if they do make it it will be fast.
I have heard that chevy will replace the camaro with a fast as hell barretta. |
