On the subject of Cops...

My friend gets pulled over today as he's leaving the Jack in the Box Parking Lot. The cop motions for him to pull over and asks him for his license & registration. My friend asks, "Sure, can I ask why I'm being pulled over?" The cop says, "You were playing your music too loud." The cop tells him that he could hear his radio from 50 feet away. (keep in mind that 50feet is like the 4-5 car lengths) My friend tells the cop that he has a system with two 12's and that even at low volume you can hear them, but the cop wasn't having any. He wrote my friend a $300 ticket and told him he was likely to have his liscense suspended for 30 days!! My friend's gonna go to court to argue this and I think the penalty is totally rediculous. No warning or anything!!

They can write you a ticket for anything if they want to.

Yeah they passed that 50 feet law here too about 3-4 years ago, they were really cracking down back then. Heck, you could hear a stock 8 track player 50 feet away, and they could write you a ticket if they wanted to also. 50 feet is really close, and with todays new stock systems, I mean come on chevy's 500 watt monsoon system, and ford's new mach 1000 watt system, just having your windows down could get you a ticket.

Damn that blows man. I usually have the top down and the punk cranked, I know that's pretty loud, with no top.lol...I'm not to sure what the law is around here, but as soon as I spy a cop I just turn down the cd player just to be safe. good luck in court man. Make them look like morons!

You know it was a friend, right?
I don't play my music very loud. I actually feel uncomfortable when my music can be heard by others. I don't think blasting your stereo is a cool thing to do, but on the other hand, the penalty put on my friend was pretty drastic!

i had friends with cars that you could hear the stereo from 3-4 blocks away. one kid had 2 18" subs in a jetta, and the other had 2 15" suba in a cavoleer, and the other kid has 4 15" subs in a dodge pickip(old d-50).

good thing w dont have stupid laws here

good luck to your friend

That's BS Why do some ******* cops make all the decent ones look like crap. I wonder if they ever heard of a warning first... what a jerk.

When you get woken up at 4:30AM by some retard driving down your street, listening to hip-hop music...you'll beg for a law like that.

Ya Know, theres a time and place for everthing, during the day it should not be a problem, now during the night, I agree its a bad time due to that thing called sleep and work the next day, he should have been ginen a warning, to slap him with a $300 ticket is a little to far fetched, hope he can fight it, let us know......Lee:(

When I had a good system, I played it loud durring the day, at night, it went low, unless I was nowhere around to bug ppl.
