funny noisies
 

i have a 89 f150 4x4 and every time i down shift it makes a really loud clinking sound.... i don't know a hole bunch about trucks...
i've had a few people say it was my transfer case.....i would appreciate and thoughts

Where does it sound like it's coming from? How many miles on the truck? First thing I'd do, since I haven't heard the noise, is check all of your U-joints. Make sure they are all good and tight. Does the truck do anything when you downshift and it makes the noise? Can you give a bit better description of what it's doing? Thanks.

it had aobut 200,000 miles...i've checked my u joints they r still good and tights... the sound comes from under the truck.. it doesn't do anything beside make the noise......

Hmmm....not sure what to tell you since I can't hear what it's doing. Guess take it to a tranny shop or something. Good luck, man.
