Pinon shaft won't fit back in?
Help!. I just just put in my new moser rear axels put the c-clips on, seated the them back and now when I go to put the pinon shaft back in it will not fit. It's almost like I need to shave about 1/32 off each axel end. Has anyone come acroos this. Right now I'm in the garage and just want to get this done.
Thanks all! |
I have heard of this problem before and the fix was exactly as you mentioned. Grind a bit off each axle end, and be careful not to let the axle heat up too much. Go slow!

I checked the C-clips to see if they were warped but they are nice and flat. Does anyone know what type of clearance there is between the end of the shafts and the pinon shaft. Also, has anyone ever ground there axel ends.
Thanks! |
From what I have been hearing is to grind down the pinon shaft. Has anyone done this before? Can you use a hand grinder?
Happy Easter! |
I wouldn't grind the pin to make it fit. Grind ( or machine ) the axle ends. The pin is probably hard surfaced and any grinding would take that off.
Just my $.02 :) |
Finally Got it!. went to home depot and pick up a hand grinder ( cheap one 39.99) Removed just a hair from the end of the axel shafts, made em nice and smooth and the pin slipped right in.
Thanks all! |
