Loose streering column and wheel. What can it be?
Hey guys,
My steering wheel isn't solid like most other cars. I can jiggle it if I apply pressure to it. The worst is when I turn. Lets say I'm making a 60 degree right turn on some twisty road. I'll turn my sterring wheel to make the turn but all of a sudden the steering wheel will move 5 degrees to the right but the wheels will stay where they were. I've learned to get used to driving like this but I'm afraid something in the column is loose and is about to give. Any thoughts as to what may be wrong? So you are saying there is a lot of slop?
If that's the case, your power rack is shot. There is nothing else in the steering system that will give you that much slop. If you are talking about an up and down looseness in the steering wheel, you need to tighten it down. Or replace the bushing. [This message has been edited by Unit 5302 (edited 04-05-2001).] |
