radio cuts out
I have a 92 stang and the radio cuts out when you put on the brakes, can't really tell if it's the momentum making it cut out or the actual brake pedal being depressed. Any ideas on what it is or what to look for?

Check your connections on the radio, make sure the plugs are in tight. Then check your fuse panel to make sure all your fuses are good and seated tight too.
If that doesn't solve the problem, it may be internal. Could be a wire or a solder point that came loose over and through vibration. If that's the case, try someone else's radio and see if that one does it or not, at least then you'll narrow it down to the radio or the wiring. |
Is your stereo OEM or aftermarket. If it is aftermarket you might check and see if it is pluged in to a worthy power source. Also sheck to see if there are any wires under your brake padels arm.

FastFrank,
You might want to see if your radio is installed tight. If it's lose, it might be sliding back and grounding itself out. You might have some kind of current running through out your car from a lose wire. And if your radio housing is metal and touching the cars metal(like the mounting brackets) it will short out from wronge polaritys. See if your radio is tight in its place, and make sure its not touching any bare matel behind it. Good luck. |
