Speedo adjustment after 3.55's?

I just had 3.55 gears installed. I think I need a new speedometer gear or something right? How much do they run, can I put it in myself. Where is it located? Thanks for the help

The speedo gear is about $12, and is on the drivers side of the trans next to the H-pipe exhaust hanger. It should take you about 5 minutes if you are not experienced. There is a wire that leads into the trans near the exhaust hanger, and is held in by one bolt (12mm maybe?).

NOW- You have to go to Mahi Mah's and have some beer.

Oh that is a relief. Thanks! I thought I was going to have to spend more bucks and maybe even pay someone to do it. I wasn't going to worry about it just yet and then I realized my odometer was racking up 10 more miles than it was supposed to for every hundred.

You can get a speedo gear for dirt cheap off of the 5.0 Restoration website.

Thats to a product on their site, but you'll be able to find them easily from there.

Hey thanks for that site. I just ordered the gear. It was $10.95 plus shipping $16.45 total.

Hey man,
Do yourself a favor and slide under your stang and make sure you have your hand on the right part. I see you have a 94, I think it's in the same spot as the Fox body. If it's not, call 866 50 resto and they'll tell you. The important thing is it's not hard at all. Undo the retaining bolt, pull the wire out and the gear will be on the end of it. Then undo the small clip (don't lose it!) and take the old speedo tooth off. Reverse process for install. I'd just take a look now while they're shipping it so you don't waste time once it gets to you.
Good luck man,
Rob

Hey thanks for the tip. I am looking forward to putting it in. I am tired of the mileage racking up on the odometer.
