How much does a paint job like this cost?

I love that guy's paint job :D.. How much would something like that cost? And where can you get it done?

Mustangbelle306 04-08-2002 10:55 AM

That is awful. The interior makes me think of traffic lights, lemons, and bananas  Hard to say, his car may have originally been chrome yellow, so he may just have had flames done.

lx mike 04-08-2002 11:00 AM

it's a show car, all his money is in the sound system and body kit.

XDude 04-08-2002 12:20 PM

I know, I hate the inside, but I want to know what it costs to have flames painted on?

You can have the red painted right on top of the yellow? I thought the whole thing had to be sanded and primed then re-done all at the same time?

tireburner163 04-08-2002 12:27 PM

You can just paint over the original paint after a little preping. I can tell you this, it wasn't cheap.

BTW, the yellow/red thing doesn't really go. and don't like the interior.

But I really like the system:D

XDude 04-08-2002 02:35 PM

I love the red and yellow flames, but what do you think it would look like with red and darker red flames? Or visa versa?

Paintjobs like that can range from the hundereds to the thousands depending on where you go and what you want painted, what types of paints you would like and all the piant stages involved. Some paint jobs take a few hours some a few months. Any custom paint shop should be able to do it but I would definately go with a guy or girl that has had alot of experience doing custom paint work. I have a cousin that does custom paint work and his clients can get up past 5 grand on a paint job. I can get the Mystic cobra fairly cheap from him but still it will cost me about 3 or 4 grand.

joe4speed 04-09-2002 12:09 AM

yes that is nice!
I'll bet it was big $$$ too!!!

that sound system was prob more than the paint!! LOL

XDude 04-09-2002 01:23 AM

That sound system was probly more than the damn car :P.

1969Mach1 04-09-2002 05:44 AM

I must say it is a pretty cool paint job, but like everyone mentioned, the cost depends on alot of things.

Topless In Texas 04-09-2002 07:02 AM

hmmmmm.

I for one am all for a really cool paintjob, but thats just a LITTLE bit too much for me! Maybe if they downsized it just a tad!!! Thats just my opinion!!!! :D

Crazy Horse GT 04-09-2002 08:06 AM

i gotta agree with topless, it's a bit too much a real cop target, but eveybody likes their own thing, so if it's what you want , hey it's your dime;)

mustangdani55 04-09-2002 09:49 AM

i estimate that paint job to be around 3500-4 grand. Looks like the flames are the ones that the House Of Kolors sells. it is a template that you can lay over the paint and spray it and voila..you have flames. Of course the paint could be the factor there. we only use Sherwin williams 2 stage paint and the really expensive fast dry clear.
