Tail lights

I have an 86 mustang GT. I was wondering if the tail lights from an 87-93 mustang gt would fit on her without doing any troublesome things

They will go on with no problems at all. I have taillights from a 85 on my 89. Taillights from 79 to 93 are all interchangeable.

tailights

Highflow, did you have to change the hole light assembly or just the lens?

I was able to snag the whole assembly from a junk yard, so they went in as easy as the old ones came off.

Lx lights

I've never really understood why alot of people want to go on and put LX taillights on their 5.0's? I mean..if they're already LX's..i can see...and..if they wanna look like a saleen...get some pinstriping :D But..for the GT's...i've always believed the louvered lights...make it a 5.0...just my .02's..any comments?

I aggree with rosco, the lx tail lights are cool, but I like my GT lenses. The only Draw back is that even though they are brand new, the paint on them still always seems to look faded. I wonder if you could paint them, and not mess up the lenses and reflectors.

LOL

I had the '88 GT lenses.. then spent $$ for the cobra lights, and now they're covered with light covers. Go figure!!
I like the Cobra ones the best. I've been thinking of taking the covers off for a while, but I just love that black and white look!

Actually there is a way to paint your rear louver lights silly :) you just gotta make sure you tape the lenses good...and...well that's all really..just make sure you get a good seal. I'm not sure what you could apply to them..something thick maybe that would prevent paint from becoming adhesive on the lense? Maybe some Vasoline or a gel of some sort? I don't do painting..so I really wouldn't know that. I found that out because I went and got my car an estimate to get painted...and he told me how they'd do that. Neato huh?

Hey kahmi_ui. Would you be interested in selling your '86 tail lights. I sent you a private message, but in case you don't read it, my emails are rmariani@leproduct.com and/or rpm794@aol.com. Let me know if the lights are in good shape and if you would be interested in selling them. Thanks!!

HiFlow5 0 04-13-2002 07:51 AM

Painting tail lights is very easy! I had to paint my cobra lights cause they were faded really bad! Just use masking tape to cover the lens and a exact-O knife to trim the tape. I used a black laquor to paint them, and it looks really good now!

Hey RMARIANI, you can't find cobra style lights in a junkyard anywhere? There are a few yards here that have cars with them, and a really GREAT junkyard in Worchester (I think thats how you spell it). That's where I got mine for, I think they were $25 bucks per light.
