Speeddensity and cam help needed....
THIS IS MY 1994 LIGHTNING.
I've got some cam questions. First, can a different/better cam be put in the stock motor as is. STOCK. Does it HAVE to be converted to roller? The cam area is one area I lack knowledge in. What's the difference between Hydraulic and Mechanical? I was told to convert to roller and add 1.7 rr's. What size cam could be run in it after the conversion? I'm staying speeddensity for a while cause I just don't have $1000 to throw at a mass air conversion, if I even ever switch at all. Mustangs were so much easier and cheaper in that dept. Besides, I know a few mustangs on Mustangworks that are running up to F cams on their speeddensity motors with no problems. One, in particular, is running in the 12s. ------------------ 1994 Red Lightning |
My buddy has an F cam in his SD mustang and he runs 12's also.
I'll be putting a TFS stage 1 cam in my SD mustang this week and see how it goes. Other than some slight idle problems I haven't seen anything wrong with my buddies car and the cam. ------------------ 88LX 5.0,C4,3200stall, BBK LT's, Race magnum bullets, K&N, ASP 3" Crank pulley, 3.73's, ram air, air bag, skinnies, battery in the hatch, 75hp NOS Dry Kit, Explorer intake 8.10@84 N/A 1/8th T-5 7.61@89 N2O 1/8th T-5 http://www.angelfire.com/ns/PurgingPony/50mainpage.html |

I just got my engine back together with the TFS stage 1 cam. It seems to idle alright except for sometimes it just decides to die for no apparent reason. But the car only has maybe 10mins total running time on it as of right now. I'm going to try an idle adjuster plate but I can live with what I got anyway even if that doesn't help.it is far better than the horror stories people spread about SD and cams.
