question for video game players

I bought a new sony computer about two months ago and my joystick won't fit into any of the ports on the computer now.
Did they change the joystick ends or what?
My joystick has 15 pins and is too big large for any of the ports in the back of the new computer.
Is there some type of adapter I need or do I need a new joystick?

Another question, what is a memory stick? I noticed the new computer has ports for memory stick. What is that for?

Take a good look again

Take another look it's the back of your video card , i no it's there !
how many USB ports do you have (at least 2 , and they look like a big phone jack ) next a ,memory stick is a 2001,2 name for your memory. they come in what you could call a (stick in that form ) it can be 64 mbr ( mega Bite of Ram ) 128 mbr or 256 mbr ( you have at least 128 ( upgrading to a (memory stick of 128 more ) will give the ( what i would call normal ram ,256) this way your Browser opens faster ,your P/C runs nicer .. and it looks like you like sims , or games .. this will make them run smoother...But you still need a good graphics card .. and i no you have one .So look again to install that joystick.one more thing Ram or memory sticks are very cheap now so get youself at least 128 mbr more .. seeya

Well if I remember correctly most joysticks use a serial port, I believe that's what they are but I haven't had to use one in a long time. Sometimes you can find a port on your soundcard but I don't think any of the newer computers do that anymore. Your best bet is to look below where you plug in your mouse and keyboard, there should be one fairly near to there. As for memory moc was right in saying more is better, I'd even go as far as to say a minimum of 256mb on a new comp and 512mb if you're going to be doing more than word processing. However, what moc is talking about plugs into your motherboard and is something you can only access from opening your case, which I don't think is what your asking about. I think you're talking about sony memory sticks which are used in some digital cameras, camcorders, and several other electronic devices. If you don't have anything that uses it then forget about, but keep it in mind when shopping for new stuff.

Moc, my monitor plugs into the back of the video card. I'll take anothe look. Maybe my monitor and joystick are supposed to plug into the same place. I know they didn't on my old computer.
Now that I think about it, that port on my video card looks like it would fit on my joystick.
FYI, I have 4 USB ports, 512MB of ram and a Geforce2 MX400 video card.
LXmustangracer, yes I was talking about the Sony memory sticks.

I could be wrong, but I'm preatty sure that the new sony's don't have what you're looking for. There is an adapter to change from what u have now to a USB port. Any computer or tech place will have it.

still can't find the correct port

I just looked and there is NOTHING that the joystick will plug into.
It doesn't fit into the graphics card port or anything.
I don't understand this at all!!
I tried every possible por that I thought it might plug into but nothing!!
I have a serial port but it's smaller than the joystick end.
The only thing I can think of is that the make different serial ports on newer computer whick require you to buy some type of adaptor or a new joystick.

Thanks mustangman, that's what I'm starting to think now.
That makes sense at this point.

Hey, no problem.

What you are looking for is typically called a "gameport" connection. They are commonly found on sound cards. Mustangman was correct, there are adapters to bridge a gameport to USB. You can see it HERE But like the page states, if you are hooking up an inexpensive controller, it isn't worth buying ($15) when you can pick up another controller.
