What do these casting numbers mean?

Ok, I was just given what is to be believed as a 302 engine block.

The casting numbers on the side of the motor near the starter are

E0AE D3C

I think it is an ealy 80's 302, but I'd like to know for sure.

If any of you gurus can help I'd glady appreciate it. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

First... is it a four bolt main block ? Do the heads (valve covers) bolt down with five or eight bolts? I ask because; 4 bolt main +eight bolts per valve cover=BOSS 302, The two bolt main + five bolt valve cover=302. Anyway ....(E O)=1970, (A)=full size ford {but not mustang, that would be (Z) }.. The (E)=engine.

Sorry to burst your bubble, induction, but an E0xx code means 1980, not 1970, making it impossible to be a BOSS block. If I were to guess, it's probably out of a T-bird or other full size car (just going by model year), though the truck blocks are more common to find now. Hope this helps. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
