Squeaking when starting car in morning
When I start my car up in the morning the car squeaks for 1/2 a second then stops. If I rev it to 3000 before it warms up it will squeak white i have my foot on the gas. After the car warms up I can shut it off and start it and it won't squeak. I was going to grab a buddy to rev my engine this weekend so i can hear under the hood. What should I look for? I know to listen at the belts and alternator. My alternator is from a 94GT and I put it in 6 months ago.

If the tensioner is working, the belts should be alright.
It's probably the power steering pump. Check to see what colour it is, and if it smells burnt. Try changing the fluid & using a semi-synthetic. |
my car does the same thing when i first start it up...it only does it for a split second. i assume i need a new belt, b/c when the car warms up...it's just fine....so, i believe my belt might be worn and "glazed" <---really smooth...and that's what is causing it to slip for a second.
let us know if that's what it is...josh ------------------ ************************* '89 GT, T-5, Bored .030 Over, GT-40P heads, MAC 1 5/8" headers, MAC Off-Road H-Pipe, 2 1/2" Flowmasters, Edelbrock 65mm T.B., Trick Flow Intakes, Crane 2031 cam, 1.7 Roller Rockers, Keith Black hyp. flat top Pistons, Screamin' Deamon Coil, Champion Plugs, March Underdrive Pulleys, 255lph Fuel Pump, SVO Motorsport Clutch, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, Formula GP Suspension, MAC Upper & Lower Control Arms, FMS 3.73 Gears. ************************* |
