car idles like it has a race cam???

Well more idle troubles, usually on cold startups, it will lope like it has an e-cam or something, sounds good actually but i know it isnt normal, could be a vaccuum leak i guess, i backed my timing to stock and no change, and at idle if i turn the a.c on,:D it draws from the engine badly, but sounds as if it has a 530 lift 224 duration cam? my dad and i did notice the installation of my accell supercoil actually made the idle lope a little, but it has gotten worse, egr is fairly new, as well as tps, i dont mind it really, except on cold startup it will crank, then idle down and die, it used to not do this.....any tips?

im tired of hearing "what cam are you running" i say stock, they think im lying...lol also im thinking, tuning with a fpr might help, since it runs a bit rich, also i should lose the ads chip ya think?

the gap on my plugs are stock spec, maybe a hair shorter, could the coil be too hot for that gap?

This might be a shot in the dark, but I once had a problem with idle similar to what you describe. Turned out to be a broken valve srping. A compression check would either prove or disprove this as a possible cause to your rough idle.

race cam lol

I had the same problem on my 95 gt one time it only did it twice but I wanted it to come back lol it sounded sweet.I heard other people say that they used to partially block the sample tube on their mass air meter to get the same effect. If that is true(i have never tried it)maybe there is a problem with your meter or maybe there is a obstruction in the way of the tube.Just guessing ,good luck ,let me know what you find.

thanx guys, dang this is my week for problems, anyway i cleaned the maf already, actually i think it idled better that day, if it was to be a broke valve spring, wouldnt i see it on a plug?

Im buying a 3/8 spacer, gives me a reason to pull off the upper and clean it, as well as check vac lines, my tps is an autozone one so that could be the problem, im not getting any codes except air thermactor yadda yassa....also im gonna throw in a 180 stat, if this strut installation dont burn me out, it is hot outside :(

btw, a broken valvspring could be it cuz i missed 4th at the track a week ago and reved the pee outta my car, but it usually takes a rev limiter hit with no problem, also the idle goes up smooth as i apply the gas, if its warm it will not stumble as the rpms go up, just at idle its like rumpity, rump.... rump.... rumpity....too much to do, but i'll sort things out, im checking harness connections and applying dielectric grease to everything i see.

i also have a 95gt and i over revved it and must have floated the valves cause the valve hit the piston and slid the keeper up on the valve, so it was a dead cylinder(sounded decent at idle but sounded like junk when you got on it) i would lean towards a vacuum leak though, one of my buddies used to disconnect a small vacuum line when crusing around and it sounded like a monster. i have noticed that the 95's dont like to be hit off the rev-limiter(they tend to break a lot)

Mine does the same thing, and after you mentioned the part about the MAF, I realized it started doing it on cold mornings soon after I converted over to mass air. So i'd guess it is related to that. Then again, maybe not.

I know what you mean, I kinda liked the sound too, but it is annoying having it die. I have a B cam in there now, and it idles all the time just like it did every now and then with the stock cam :)

But after it sits overnight, it will struggle to idle the first time i start it up and if i don't keep the RPM's up then it will die.

sorry that I have no answers for you, just lettin you know that you aren't alone

cool, yea it really sounds good, and it doesnt die, just on first startup, then it tries to find an idle struggling to stay started, it used to die when i turned on the a.c, but i reset the ecu then started it up with all accessories on and it learned a new idle, i may be way off, but i think a 130g alt would help, in the rain i stopped at a light with my wipers on, a.c, electric fan, headlights and blinkers, it was barely blinking, and it must affect idle as well.
