Well, contrary to popular belief, they don't take that much power at all. The low compression, crappy cam, weak carb & intake, and restrictive heads/exhaust are what is slowing you down. If you really want to remove things, make sure you fully understand what you're doing. That engine was designed to run with all that "crap", and it relies fairly heavily on it. You have a distributor that relies on two temperature controlled switches, mounted to your intake, and a delay valve, to adjust your timing advance for you. Gut the temp switches, and you really need a new distributor. The smog pump takes hardly any effort to spin, but if you get rid of it, you also need to buy and install plugs at the rear of each head, and remove any cats you still have in your exhaust, because if you don't, they will clog up. Your charcoal canister and EGR valve don't rob a single bit of power, but if you remove them, expect a rich smell from both ends of your car, increased chances of vapor lock, and hotter cylinder head temps.
