Bad Night at the Races
 

Well I was setup to race this White LX 89. Its VERY stripped out, no accessories, stock heads (guaranteed ported), cam that I can hear, cobra intake, full suspension, on 275DR's. Course the guy is a total hustler and claims everythings stock blah blah.

Anyways I figure its a good runnner 12.6-12.7 car atleast. He wont run me unless I give him a car and the go. Because Im on slicks etc etc.. Anyways we met up an hour later (thats the key here) And we run em. We hook the same, and hes pulling hard on me through 3rd gear! THIS IS EASY A 110-112mph car. ****** had to have hidden juice somewhere, or rigged it in in the free hour he had when he took off. The cops showed up RIGHT after the race and we all scatterd so we didnt have time to inspect his car. Anyways we got him on Vid, and maybe ill sell him his video back for $40 :-D.

After that I kept spraying too much all night. Too much timing, not enough fuel pressure etc, and boom, head gasket. motor clunking all crazy, off balance, smoke everywhere.

ugh.

I need a 347, but I have no money at this time.

sorry to hear that man. you definitely gotta get a new motor and spray that one, but get the motor built. this is what i am thinking for my new project. on a lighter note though, i think i am gonna get a 351 or something built....hehehe.... i wanna drop it into a mid 80's LX. you know? i think that it would be a sleeper car on the street. i wanna get it built by True Blue Performance in North Carolina, i know you are in Cali, but you ever hear of them?

Yeah, the motors fine Im sure. It just needs new head gaskets.

Oh I cant say how much timing I was running. I knew it was dangerous but I didnt really care.

Lets say 17 initial on a 125 shot w/ only 38psi fuel pressure.


Im gonna port the heads while its apart this time.

Vecter, How fast do you want to go with it? Thats the question.

i had to sell my car.:( :( :( because i am going to the naval academy this summer. what i want now, is something that can compete with a 10.90 or better cobra, that is running those times on motor, but has a 300 shot of N20 just like mine used too... memories. anyway. i have seen some ridiculously fast 5.0's and my parents will let me keep a 5.0 in my garage as a project car. so i was thinking with this i could get at least 10's on the juice. and depending on the motor, tranny, driver, rear end...etc... i may be able to do better with it being a streetcar. i mean. a performance motor built to handle N20 should be able to handle a 200 shot, right? oh i wanna compete with 10.90's on motor. so around low 11's on the motor. and way faster on the juice.

Sky, when are you going to fix it and find this guy for a rematch? Was he on the bottle? How much do you think his car weighed?

His car probably weighed in around 2700lbs. I know he was squeezing, but he had it well hidden.

Sounds like that 5.0 pulled one over on ya. But oh well. At least you didn't lose too much money.

IS your car still considered that fastest one on town now since that race?

sorry to hear about your car sky! that guy must have been sparying to pull you like that! port your heads and spray him next time! i wouldn't mind seeing the video of it! good luck with your car!

They probably were not stock heads either. Maybe Iron Windsors, or Winsor Jr's.

He may or may not have been spraying. A stripped out car does not need to have a ton of power to be fast. Mine is not even that stripped and I can run 12.0's @ 112 on every pass. My engine is nothing major either.

Sucks about the head gaskets, but at 17 degrees of inital timing I would say you were trying to break it.

Oh I know I was gonna mess up the gaskets I was just being dumb.

DEFINATLY stock heads though, so I dunno.

Sky, you know there are guys running 12's with fully ported E7 heads. Just find this guy again, line 'em up and rip his head off!
