X-Pipe loudness?

Hello,

I was going to get the Pro-Chamber...actually had it ordered, but no more. My friend has a 98 GT 5sp and he has an H-pipe. It sounds awesome and badass. However, I don't want my car that loud going around town.

I don't want it much louder than where it is now at the idle to 2500 RPM range...above that range I don't really care how loud it is :). I heard the X-pipe wasn't that loud until you get up there in the RPMs. Is this true?

I like the h-pipe's sounds, but it is just too much for me :)!

Thanks,
DoranW

i had an off road h-pipe on my 89lx then went to a bbk x-pipe, i didnt like the way the x-pipe sounded, it is quieter though, and it does scream when you get on it. sounds like the x pipe would be perfect for you. the only thing that i didnt like about it was the tone of the exhaust. it makes it sound a little higher pitched, like its flowing better, its kind of a personal preference, i personally didnt like the sound of it.

My car is pretty quiet after the X-pipe install......Until you get on in then its a high piched scream of 5.0 fury....

If you're not looking to be too loud, get the x-pipe. The catted h is pretty tame too. If you don't want to attract attention then don't get an or h or the prochamber by any means.

Mines quieter at idle but when I get on it, it's just as loud as my H-pipe was. The X in the flowtech X-pipe is closer to the front so it may be louder than the X-pipes that have the X further back, not sure...

This sounds like something I would like better than the h-pipe. I will probably get the BBK 'catted' X-pipe.

I have a "B" cam with long tubes into an "H" O/R pipe into 2 chamber flowmasters, the most beautiful music I have ever heard.

The bottom line is if you run ANY O/R pipe with aftermarket muffs it will be loud.

Yup, an x-pipe keeps her quiet, until the pedal drops. I installed a BBK x-pipe with cats after removing an off road h pipe. Idle is very comfortable to listen to, and WOT sound is schweeet!
