Best Exhaust
Hey, I have heard a lot about Flowmaster and Borla... what exhaust system can maximize sound and HP gains? I want a loud car (but not obnoxious) and a lasting exhaust system. Any suggestions?
|
i say steer clear of flowmaster, and everything borla makes things sound ricey, ruins sports-cars in my opinion. go bassani if you're just looking cat-back, i'm not sure what it'll sound like if you use the factory headers and h-pipe, but mine sounds great with those aftermarketed too. the bassani cat-back is so well finished and manufactured, you won't be disappointed.

depending on what model mustang you have, whether it's a newer 4.6L, not sure how far back bassani makes their system for mustangs

Bassani sounds good on a 4.6L Cobra? I'll check out their website. Thanks guys!

i'm not all too sure if they make a cobra cat-back either, but my gt's sounds awesome...sounds like a full-on race car, no pick-up shiznit, and a just nice sound all around. not whiney race car, deep, throaty-race car, too. but, that's with long-tube headers as well, and it's hard to say what part's doing the most work sound-wise there

Exaust... MAC PRO-CHAMBER proves a 22.2 RWHP gain compared to stock on a 2V 4.6 and a 4V was around 25RWHP.
Add the mufflers (FlowMaster series 40) and you have probably a total gain of 25RWHP on the 2V GT. The sound is awesome too. |
You will loose HP with flowmasters. Sure they sound great, but they are chambered. Right now, you can't beat magnaflow exhaust. It's only $350 for stainless steel, flow-thru muffler system with 2.5" madrel bent piping. It's quiet during normal driving, and gets loud when you get on the gas. It's the only one that dyno proven 13RWHP too.

Uhh... I don't know about LOSING hp with flowmasters.....sure they might not be the best flowing exhaust out there but it's better than stock and I don't think you will loose hp....heh
