Brain hurts from cam combos
Getting the lower end rebuilt soon so I wanted to add some goodies. I was planning on going with the holley systemax 2 kit but I heard the cam in it isn't great for an EFI. So I was thinking of going with the Edelbrock performerRPM heads (2.02x1.60)and performer rpm intake. That intake might be a little high winded for me. But thats why I'm here. Any cam grind suggestions. I'd like a lopey one but obvious I don't want to sacrifice too much horse or vacuum.
Also with these mods I was planning on getting the support. 65mm TB, 30lb/hr, 75mm MAF, 190 lb/hr fuel pump, 1.6/1.7(depending on cam lift) and 1-5/8 headers. Any suggestions would be helpfull. I don't plan on ever putting NOS or boost to this car... Looking for about 350hp. Mike5p0 ___________ '93 Lx -3.73, OR H-pipe, 2-1/2 CatBack |
24 lb. injectors are better for that combo. you dont need 30.
Theres plenty of cams. Just pick a fairly mild one, around 215-220 duration @ .050 and lift around .499 - .540 . Stay away from a 110 LSA, get a 112 or 114. |
I read somewhere =) That the fuel map of the 24lb/hr to a 75mm maf tended to run rich low and lean out up top .. Or maybe that was with a 70mm .. Hell I don't remember anymore. Anyone ever have any complications like this ??

Theres thousands of people running 75MM MAF meters and 24 lb. injectors.
Some peole have "surging Idle" problems, and some dont. Some might be caused by the MAF meter, some might not. Welcome to the world of "inconsistent" fuel injection and electronics modification. Theres thousands of very fast cars running the 75mm/24 lb. combo, so I dont think theres any performance concerns to worry about in of itself |
I really don't enjoy the word inconsistant but I do see your point and it makes sense. Is the stock computer going to be able to handle such mods? ? ?
|
Yes, stock computer is more than up to the task.

In my opinion 24 pound injectors are worthless, they are inaccurate, and they are barely better than 19's, 30 pounders idle just as well, offer more room to upgrade engine components, etc.
Blue tops blow! |
24 lbers have thier place, just as 30 lbers do.
Why are they inaccurate? They came from the factory on some cars, I guess they couldnt be too bad? Hmmm...please expalin more. thanks |
well i have 24lbs injects on my set up, and they work just fine. I'm running trickflow upper/lower intake, world(roush)200cfm 2.02,1.60 valve heads, 73mm MAF and 65mmTB. Also i'm running with Fords E303 cam. 220 dur, .498lift. I would get an adjustable fuel regulator to be able to play with your fuel pressure. I gain 30 RWP torque on the dyno from playing with my fuel presure.
