rusted out core support!

OMG, this sucks. I'm trying to fix up a 1982 Mustang, and after we took everything out, we noticed the core support (lower radiatior support), is totally rusted away. It looks like its connected to the frame of the car. Should I just get one, and have it welded on? Or does anyone have any ideas other than that. (The car doesn't run right, so I don't want to move it).

This is one of the first places to rust out on a fox body. Poorly designed, I guess. Most of the front end body work has to come off to replace it (fenders, front cover, etc). It is best to replace it, you could probably get someone to weld it up, but original parts done right always look and perform better.

Jeez, I took everything off today, fenders, hood, and nose, and it's all welded on! How am I supposed to do this? http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Maybe I should order one from a parts car and drill some holes and bolt it on. Or maybe I can find someone with a welder and they can put it on for me.

Any other ideas besides welding it on?

Structurally that part is important to the car and should be welded on. Its not really that big a deal to get the old one cut off and a new one welded on. Just need to lmake sure the frame stays lined up.
