Car dies when clutch is depressed...help!

Periodically, when depressing the clutch to stop or to make turns, especially right handed turns, my car just dies out...it will restart with no problems, but I am pissed and don't know why it keeps doing this. It just started doing it out of the blue and I don't know why. Isn't there a sensor that controls idle while turning...like a power steering pressure switch or something, could that be causing it? josh

It's possible that it is the VSS. I recently converted to MAF and didn't hook it up.Mine quits quite often when depressing the clutch to stop, or downshift.

I bet it's even worse when your running the AC, right? That was one of the first problems I ever had with my 89. You need to clean the throttle plate, and while your at it, clean the ISC solenoid. It should solve your problem.

The VSS is I believe the Vehicle Speed Sensor, on the tranny by the speedo cable. If you don't hook it up when you convert SD to MAF it can cause symptoms like yours, and mine. I know you weren't SD, but maybe it just went bad, just trying to help.
