Tire question (GT)
I'm looking at purchasing a set of 17 inch wheels and tires to replace the stock 16 inch set on my 1995 Mustang GT.
I found a guy selling a set of Bullet wheels and tires fresh off a new Mustang (2002) GT. I have two questions: would the 245/45/17 size match the stock diameter of my 225/55/16 rims currently on my '95 GT? Also, I know that the new GT comes with Goodyears, but does anyone know which exact model of Goodyears? and are they decent tires. Thanks in advance for any advice. |
the wheel's will fit, but imo the goodyear's suck, ive had 3 blowout's in one year, last one =left front cost me my car & a ---- load of damage, 2 month's with out my car, i hate to say it but i have had better luck with khumo's, hey jmho :) btw if you want to trade the bullit's for some 00gt 17's, im willing to talk , heheh:D ;)

I don't know about the Goodyears sucking as far as blowouts, then again, I've only had the 2002 for a while.
What irks me a little is why Ford would continue to use the same tires on the GT's as the 1985GT came standard with. I mean, Hello!! Tire technology has advanced in the last 20 years, and the Eagle is a mediocre performance tire in dry now, and it's horrible in all other circumstances. There is a difference in diameter between the two sizes. It's about 0.05" I'm serious by the way. For all practical purposes, they are the same size. |
Any tire on a 17" or larger rim is at risk of blowing and guess what... no warranty what so ever on any tire that's mounted on a 17" or larger rim. My cobra had new BFGs on it and caught a nail night new years eve, shreaded the tire and there is no warranty unless you buy it. I think I'll stick to my 15" rims. By the time you realize you have a flat, its too late.
