oil cooler installation
I have a vortech with the high pressure oil inlet, and was wondering if i unhooked the high pressure line from that and then hooked up a oil cooler inline with it, if it would cause a problem with the motor. The only problem I can see is the loss of pressure because of the extra distance that it has to travel. when i was running my car without the blower last week (melted the discharge tube) it ran alot cooler. Also because im at the peak efficiency of the a-trim, it runs REALLY hot.

your engine runs hot with the blower because your forcing hot, compressed air into it. if u want to run cooler , get an intercooler. As far as the oil cooler, call vortechs tech number and ask them what they think.

I have called Vortech with the very same question. They stated the oil orfice is very small (a few thousands or something) and just sprays a fine mist of oil on the gears. The benifit of placing an oil cooler inline is very small due to the small amount of oil flow used to due to the small orfice. A engine based oil cooler would be beneficial though (and on my "to do" list too).
