Loss of power . . .

I'm having a problem with my '87 ever since I put 3.73's in her. She pulls really hard in first and second gears, but when I hit third she falls on her face.Does anyone have any idea of what is wrong? It didn't do this before, only after the gears. My 60 ft. time has improved quite a lot, but overall I'm not seeing a different ET. Could she be starving for something like fuel or air?
Thanks a lot,
Christina

It is a Stick Auto What do you mean it fall flat on its Face like the motor makes less Power in 3nd????? Gears dont Make your ET allways go down.. it can But dont have to...

wouldnt the clutch slip more in 1st and 2nd. shestang87 are there any changes in your 330 1/8 1000 1/4 times and speeds up or down

how badly does it fall on its face? like almost dying or what?

if its pretty bad, i might suspect the inertia switch (fuel cutoff switch), but then again, this probably wouldnt cause it to do that ONLY in 3rd gear.

T-5 or AOD and what are you shifting at?

gtsr515 05-08-2002 04:59 PM

not necessarily, there is more load on the car in third and fourth gears, etc. for instance your injector pulse will widen when going into 3rd because of more load and your fuel pump will labor more.

good point

I would guess that she is talking about an AOD tranny. I also experienced this problem.

SheStang87, what have you done to your car? Have you advanced your timming? I can't remember if I just got used to it or if I did something that fixed it.
