Help, anyone that has installed clutch quadrant?
Well I have the cable pretty much in place, and the old quadrant off, now i dont see how im going to spring load the new one on??
and there is 'another' plastic piece (spring loaded) in the way of the new one going on, any help would be very helpful, as i cant see very good, and my arms are long and linky, so im having a rough time:D but the good advice from you people always help.....thnx |
come on guys?:D i know many people have done them,
do i keep the springs off the old shaft? or do i just put the new quadrant on the 2 shafts? old quadrant is off, And whats the other plastic piece in the way? do i remove it? all i need is a little help thanx:) |
If this is a aftermarket quad.(bbk hays, frpp, steeda etc..etc..) ditch the springs you dont need them. and the other plst. part is the adj. unit take that off as well you dont need it . then all you have to do is put the new one on it will be harder to set the cable without help of someone else.

explicitone is right, do away with all the spring loaded stuff, just simply mount the new quadrant on the two shafts. It's kind of a press fit type deal so it does not just slip on the shafts.

Its a real Back Braker doing it thats the wost part :) the Back all bent in odd ways why you work under the dash good Luke it is not all that hard just hard to get at.........
|
the best way I found so not to be bent out of shape is to take the drivers seat out
|
That might be a good Idea I think if I had to do another I would do that!!!
|
Oh the seat has been out since yesterday, i dont see how someone could do it without removing the seat, im 6'3, and can barely fit in the car with it removed, appreciate the help guys, for some reason i thought the springs were needed, but i guess not, i'll have someone help me on the cable part, it's a d&d unit similar to the steeda......you guys have been a great help:)

Remove ALL the plastic pieces. The spring loaded one takes 90% of the whole installation time!
REMOVE THE SEAT, I did the "high-jump" (flopping backwards over my rollbar) to get it done. Had trouble walking after that. These are all the new pieces that went in: http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/t...chquadrant.jpg |
My dad and I just replaced mine with the Steeda kit. We put 2 nylon spacers in between the quadrant on the shafts. Took out all the old plastic parts and ditched the spring. We have the cable adjusted all the way at the bellhousing and the firewall adjuster is almost all the way out. I dont know if this is normal because it is still very close to all the way on the floor to disengage but it is better than it was.

Ok I got it installed, it was'nt too bad, my back is sore, along with two of my fingers, did a little bit of screaming, but it was hot outside so i was frustrated, but it sure saved me some money.
I like the feel, it needs more adjustment, but im going to the track right now, so i'll adjust it further over there, thanx again to whom helped me through the process.:) :D |
glad to help, and I hope you a great time at the track let us know how it goes
|
Well i ended up not going to the track, watched some b=ball instead.....
I have another question, my clutch feels hard to push (stiff) alsways has, I dont mind it much, but is it normal for the motorsport PP and disc to be this way? cuz my friend has a 12 sec 85, he has a mcleoud clutch, but it is soooo much easier to push in? maybe i should start a new thread, unless you guys know the dealio??:D |
i HAVE THE SAME SETUP AND YES IT IS A PAIN IN THE A**
