I believe it is 14.5 in the 1/4.

most 99+ GT 5speeds run 13.7-14.0

MM&Fast Fords did a comparison of a 1965 Shelby 350 GT and a 2001 GT. The best time for the 2001 was around 13.6. I believe this was on street tires.

Thanks for all your help, my buddies thinking about trading up from his 92 LX and we could not find the times anywhere online. If you ask me they ought to add 1/4 times as part of the standard car specs (i.e. wheelbase, weight etc. LOL!)

thanks again,
Jorge

The new GT's have run 13.60's bone stock with the stock Goodyears.

I have pulled under perfect conditions a best of 13.66 with my 2000GT. I have recently bought a 2002GT, which is technically identical, and pulled out some 13.7xx runs out of it.

If you have never been to the track... you may not get anywhere near there on your first attempt. You will need to try different launch, shifting and clutching senarios to get your best ET out of your car.

Don't be mad if your car pulls only 14.0-14.1 ... it seems to be the average of what the drivers can do.

Hey Lizard, what was your technique on the 2002?

Lizard King 05-14-2002 03:55 PM

The 2002 seems to be a bit different than my 2000 in torque levels. With my old one I used to basicaly launch from IDLE or else the car would spin out too easy. With the new one I have to rev up to 1600 - 1800 or else it bogs out on launch.

Might be caused by the engine not being settled yet.... I don't know.

As for the rest of the technic, it all depends on the conditions of the track. If you can slam into second without wheel spin, powershift every gear (pedal to the metal clutching and shifting). If there is wheel spin then you have to slip the clutch on first to second shift.

The best thing I can tell you, is once you 60ft times are in the low 2.1 to high 2.0, all you need to work on is the speed of shifting, type of shifting, and shifting points on your rev limiter.
