4.10's are in and here are the results

Well the 4.10's are finally in and WOW, what a difference. Now remember this car was pretty darn slow. AOD convertible! If you read some of my other posts, you would've saw that about 3 weeks ago, I ran some 10.20's in the 1/8th. Well that was about my average and it was HOT outside. Well, this friday was no different, maybe even hotter. Overall, I would have to say I was real pleased with the results. I was hoping to knock off half a second or atleast close to it. Well heres my first run down the track.

R/T .863
60 ft 2.280
1/8th ET 9.791
1/8th MPH 72.92

I accidentally caught OD on that first run. Here was my best time of the night. Keep in mind that I only ran 4 times the entire night. I believe I can lose another 1/10th with a little more practice. Well here's the slip.

R/T .587
60 ft 2.237
1/8th ET 9.706
1/8th MPH 72.80

By the way, shift kit is really working well now. I can chirp 2nd and 3rd every time down the track! Here's one of my old slips for you to compare the difference. Remember, all I did was go from stock 2.73's to 4.10's. No other mods, tune up or anything. This by far was the best improvement for the money by IMO.

R/T .651
60 FT 2.387
1/8th ET 10.22
1/8th MPH 71.22

What do you guys think? Good improvement? Sorry the times took so long to get but if the whole swap went a little smoother, I would've done it earlier. Anyways, thanks for the opinions.

Nice improvement! You almost gained a full 2mph also which is great! I'd look into an H-pipe & pulleys as your next budget mods. Maybe consider LT's w/ an H-pipe also. Wats the weight of your car?

Weight?:D That's a funny question. I'm guessing it's close to to 4,000 lbs. She's a beast. I still have the spare tire in and an aftermarket stereo. I've been thinking of dumping that stuff though. We'll see. Anyways, she's a hefty girl. Been afraid to take her to the scales to be honest. LOL

Thats a very good improvement. I bet you could see another 1-2 tenths just by doing the 1-d-1 shift.
I wouldnt think that you would need 3rd gear in an AOD at an 8th mile track. What RPM do you cross the line at?

according to the analyzer, you improved your 1/4 time from 15.94@89.74 to a 15.14@91.73. Although this is a GREAT improvement in time, I believe it can get alot better. If you can manage a 60ft time in the 1.9's or low 2.0's then theres another 3-4 tenths right there.

good luck with it, im sure you can get it quite a bit quicker with no more mods,

You really think I could muster a 1.9 60 ft? or even a 2.0 60 ft? That would be great but I'm already leaving the line with the stock stall converter maxed out. How could I manage to improve the 60 ft because I know that is still high (2.2's). I don't remember what the rpm was when I crossed. I'll be sure to look closer this next friday when I go back.

if you get a set of sticky tires or if they prep the track well enough, then yes you could definately see 1.9-2.0 60ft times, you've got plenty of gear for it

My 89 convertible stock with a T-5 weighed in at around 3440 with a half tank of gas.

89 ATI- What kind of times you running with that setup? Have you lightened it since you had it weighed?

granted, he does have a road race suspension, and he slapped his street tires back on for that run

i believe his best is also a 12.9, not sure of the mph though
