4 cly t5 in a 5.0

will this work can it be done does the 4cly trans have to be mod. will the pedals from the 4 cly car work what about the bellhouseing thanks for any help

They say the v8T5 and the 4cyl T5 are the same accept for first gear in a 4cyl T5 is higher. You will need a diff bellhousing for sure i may be wrong. errr and a diff clutch of course lol

i understand the input shaft on 4cyl t-5 is unnoticeably longer than a 5.0 t-5 which will destroy the crankshaft.

The 4 cyl. T5 is not the same and if you try and use it with a V8 your wasting your time. Especially with a high horsepower V8.

1bad89 is absolutely right. The 4 cylinder T5 has a MUCH lower torque rating than a V8 T5. I've heard of people using it in V8 powered stangs without trouble, but that's because they didn't abuse it or race. The pedals will work, but i wouldn't trust that 4 cylinder T5 as far as i could throw it (which wouldn't be that far). I don't know the exact torque rating, but i know that they used cheaper lower quality parts to save a few nickels on each one they made. The T5 in my car is rated at like 280 ft/lbs and later ones were 300 (or around there) because the fuel injected stangs had more torque, and i also believe on the '93 Cobra they put in the T5 Z-transmission (i may be talking out of my *** on that one), so T5's are made borderline strong for their application, so i'd be very of suspicious of the anemic 4 cylinder's tranny. Good luck, i hope whatever you do works out.

Been there....done that!! I have a 4 cyl. T-5 in my garage with a busted up cluster gear as a result of that.
I you drive like grandma then it will work ok for you. Obviously, I didn't drive like grandma.
I think the driveshaft lengths are slightly different in the 4 and 8 cyl. cars.
I think the 4cyl. is a little longer.
