ARP oil pump drive shaft problems

Has anyone had problems with their ARP oil pump drive shaft in a sbf 302? Problems like clearance, MSD distributor not seating on block properly, having to grind on the arp shaft or the distributor shaft housing, ARP shaft breaking/snapping, etc. What clearance instructions were given with the ARP shaft as far as distributor to block, and shaft to distributor? Suggestions comments welcome...Thanks

I installed one of ARP oil pump shafts with my HV FMS oil pump and stock distributor.

I endend up grining the distributor end down until it would fit. Fortunately the oil pan and intake manifold were off because the engine was out of the car.

Just make sure that there is no bind in the oil pump and distributor when you tighten everything up. You don't wan't to fry your pump like that.

I have heard similar thinkg from other late model guys using the shaft. I am guessing it is because of distributor differences with the roller distributor.

There are two different lengths of oil pump drive shaft. The longer one is for '86 and earlier, and the shorter one is for 87 through 95 EFI motors. Probe industries makes the correct length drive shaft for EFI motors, and it is a much better looking piece than the ARP unit.
