Fuel Pump Gone Bad?
Well, a few weeks ago my fuel pump quit working. Since then I have done some trouble shooting using a voltage tester...it seems that I am getting power all the way back on the pump side of the inertia swith when I turn the key on (engine off). So that would rule out any relay/inertia switch issues, right? Does that mean it definitely is my fuel pump that has crapped out?

How many miles are on the car?? I had an 87 with 130K on it and the pump started humming, that's when I knew it was time to replace it.

It's a 93 with about 120k on it. I'm thinking it has to be the fuel pump since the relays and the inertia switch are functioning correctly.

Stang_ROTY - could you give me some detailed info on your setup....how dose it run..have you drove it yet? if so how dose she drive...where did you find your block and how much was it?
im in the planing stage on building a 393/396 |
Sure,
I got a '69 block out of a Cougar for 150 bucks, tore it down, and had it hot tanked, balanced and blueprinted. I wanted a real street demon so I went EFI and very mild comp cam (custom grind). I actually passed emissions with BBK shorties and BBK cats. It ran excellent with no problems until my engine builder noticed that there was too much copper in the oil filter. So we checked the endplay with a micrometer and it was too far off so we determined that the bearings were shot. From that point on (which was the end of last summer) I didn't get on her hard, but drove around town a little. Now, the bearings have been replaced and we put in a lumpier cam. I just got the line lock in and the engine should be in tonight. I'm looking at lighting the candle sometime this weekend and hitting the track ASAP. If you want more info about my setup send me an email. Quote:
