Auburn diffs

Auburns are a good diff but somewhat prone to breakage, according to some of our members.

Brand new, they run $400. - 500. so $85. is a steal if it's intact with nothing broken, missing or worn out. I would have my doubts at that price.

I agree with Mr 5.0. It is kind of risky to put something that you can not tell how hard it has been used into your rear end like that
at least with head or a carb you can take them back off right away and put your old ones on. The locker is a bit more difficult to replace if it turns out to be not such a great deal.

got it and everything look ok, gonna have it looked at by someone a bit more knowledge...

getting ready for the install (as soon as i flip a coin to figure what gears to get).. Heads 3:73's tails 4:10's..

just curious if i need to put anything other than 90w in the rear end??

gtsr515 06-03-2002 07:18 PM

Boy! I would stay away from that one, to me a used rear end piece like that is a disaster waiting to happen, especially with an Auburn, just a few one wheel wonders at the track or on the street and they are toast, why was it for sale in the first place?

All I'm saying is be carefull, and NOBODY can just look at it and determine if it's good or not, and I'm 90% sure they are a Non-rebuilable unit.

theres an "Auburn" and an "Auburn Pro". I paid around $350.00 for a new Auburn Pro and its been trouble free for 3 years now.

the "pro" can handle more torque.

Auburn

I'm running an Auburn Pro series also. 550+ foot lbs of torque, still it works like new.:D

I have had the Auburn Pro for at least the past 4 years, maybe even been 5 now? with no problems.

The only problems i' have had are my C-clip eliminators leaking, but then again there are some on the market now that dont leak so do your research before you buy ;)

anyways I wouldn't buy this used auburn, you have no idea what kinda abuse it might have had.you'd be better off saving your money and buying new.
